Brick making is a traditional craft in the Kathmandu Valley. In the recent decade, due to the increasing urbanization and rising demand for construction materials for development work, brick factories have grown both in number and worker capacity. Most brick factories in the Kathmandu Valley operate in the season between December and the following May or June, when the monsoon rains set in.
